Northwest Resources Chemical Dependency Treatment Philosophy
Northwest Resources's philosophy is firm in its belief that Chemical Dependency is a primary, chronic disease with genetic,
psychosocial and environmental factors influencing its development and manifestations. The disease is often progressive and
fatal. Additionally, it is often characterized by impaired control over drinking or drug use, preoccupation with alcohol and
or other drug use, continued use, despite adverse consequences, and distortions in thinking, most notably denial.
Northwest Resources' philosophy on the Treatment of Chemical Dependency is grounded in the belief that, in order to be
in recovery, an individual has to move from denial to acceptance, with acceptance into action and prevention. And that,
as individuals, they need to have initial and ongoing assessment to develop and treat bio/psycho/social problems that are
barriers to, or increase the results of total long-term abstinence.
With this philosophy, all patients of Northwest Resources will address, in their treatment:
1) Their
acceptance of having a disease.
2) Their development of a recovery plan, including relapse prevention.
3) Development
of social clean and sober support.
4) Individual bio/psycho/social problems.
